SAFENet on a new level: Five new members
The Alliance is growing significantly: Genexis, IPmotion GmbH, MB connect line GmbH, Teldat and Waystream are joining SAFENet. With this accession the Alliance is establishing an even broader European foundation:
- 🇸🇪 Sweden
- 🇳🇱 Netherlands
- 🇩🇪 Germany
- 🇪🇸 Spain
The new partners are significantly expanding the Alliance’s range of competencies – from fiber optic access and smart home networking, to mobile connectivity, all the way to industrial communication and cybersecurity. The objective is to bundle these competencies and jointly demonstrate that trustworthy, secure, resilient router and network technology from Europe is available – today, not just in the future.
The hidden backbone of digital sovereignty
Recent publications shed light on the role of routers and home networking devices in Europe’s digital sovereignty and supply chain security. They highlight existing challenges and discuss possible measures to enhance the transparency, security and resilience of digital infrastructures.

About SAFENet: Together for digital independence
FRITZ!, the leading European router manufacturer, is a founding member of SAFENet. Together with develo, Rohde & Schwarz Networks and Cybersecurity (formerly LANCOM Systems) and TDT, the Alliance was launched to promote Europe’s digital independence and achieve stronger consideration of routers and network devices in European technology policy.
SAFENet is committed to reducing the growing dependency on non-European providers in the area of network technology. Routers, as the central interface for over 90 percent of European internet traffic, are a critical component of digital infrastructure. The Alliance is pursuing the goal of strengthening Europe’s digital sovereignty through transparency, targeted procurement, and the development of a European ‘Router and Network Technology Security Toolbox’. More information on the Alliance is presented at safe-net.tech.
Statement on the expansion
‘Sovereignty does not end at the computer centre or in the cloud. It starts where people and companies actually go online: at the router. The router is the access point to the digital world – and a central component of digital sovereignty,’ emphasizes Jan Oetjen, CEO of FRITZ!.
‘The addition of these five new members is a strong signal. Together we are creating a European voice to ensure that Europe keeps control of its own networks and shapes its own digital future.’
FRITZ! is convinced that the European Union must ensure the independence of network components such as routers and create the appropriate regulatory framework conditions. The Alliance offers European manufacturers a platform to present their sovereign, trustworthy, innovative technology solutions and make a decisive contribution to long-term protection of digital infrastructure in Europe.
